State Police arrest Albany man for illegally possessing two handguns

On December 17, 2023, State Police of Latham arrested Kymir R. Pearson, 32, of Albany, NY, for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  

On December 17, 2023, at about 2:34 a.m. Troopers stopped a vehicle on Quail Street in Albany, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Pearson, who was found not to possess a valid driver's license. During the investigation, a gun was observed in the passenger area of the vehicle, which led to a search of the vehicle and the discovery of a second handgun. Both handguns were found to be loaded, and one handgun contained an illegal high-capacity magazine. Pearson did not possess a pistol permit and illegally possess the firearms.

Pearson was arrested and transported to SP Latham for processing. He was arraigned at the Albany City Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash, a $10,000 bond, or a $5,000 partially secured bond.
