On May 27, 2025, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) at Kingston announced the arrest of Shannon N. Marshall, age 38, of Saugerties, NY, for the following charges:
• Assault 2nd Degree, Class D Felony
• Two counts of Menacing 2nd Degree, Class A Misdemeanor
• Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, Class A Misdemeanor
The preliminary investigation indicated that on May 27, 2025, at approximately 5:48 a.m., HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston treated a patient suffering from multiple stab wounds. Hospital staff immediately notified the City of Kingston Police Department. Upon determining that the assault occurred within the jurisdiction of the town of Saugerties, City of Kingston Police Department advised the Town of Saugerties Police Department. The investigation was subsequently turned over to the New York State Police.
During the investigation, it was determined that at approximately 4:45 a.m. the same morning, the 37-year-old female victim answered a knock at the door of a room at Samadhi House, located on Washington Avenue Extension in the town of Saugerties, NY, where she was staying. Marshall was on the other side of the door, and a verbal altercation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds during the altercation and was transported to HealthAlliance Hospital for treatment.
Marshall was arrested a short time later at the Wenton Motel on Route 9W in Saugerties and processed at State Police Kingston without incident. She was arraigned in Saugerties Town Court Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) and remanded to the Ulster County Jail with bail set at $20,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or $100,000 partially secured bond. Marshall is scheduled to return to Saugerties Town Court on May 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
State Police were assisted by the Town of Saugerties Police Department and the City of Kingston Police Department.
