Rouses Point male arrested for menacing 2nd, CPW 4th, petit larceny, and criminal trespass 3rd

On June 23, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Troopers responded to Route 22, West Chazy, NY, for a report of a larceny complaint.  An investigation determined Matthew Jaffe, age 56, of Rouses Point, NY, went onto the victim’s property, which was blocked by a closed gate, and started to attempt to steal items.  The victim confronted Jaffe about stealing the items, which caused a verbal argument between the two and later turned physical.  Both parties struck each other multiple times; Jaffe went back to his truck, grabbed a hammer, and started walking toward the victim with it.  The victim contacted law enforcement; Jaffe stole the items and left the property.

Jaffe was located, arrested, and transported to SP Champlain for processing.  Jaffe was charged with menacing 2nd, criminal possession of a weapon 4th, criminal trespass 3rd, and petit larceny.  He was later released on an appearance ticket.
