*Press Conference regarding the homicide in Cohoes, NY

**A press conference will be held at the Cohoes City Hall today, September 15, 2025, at approximately 11:30.**

On September 14, 2025, at approximately 9:15 a.m., the Cohoes Police Department responded to Earl Lynn Court in Cohoes, NY, regarding a deceased female found inside a residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, identified as Amanda Rodriguez, age 41, also of Cohoes.

The Cohoes Police Department contacted New York State Police members at approximately 10:50 a.m. to assist with the scene.

An investigation determined that Anthony G. Bechand, age 53, fled the residence in a white 2024 Chevrolet Silverado. This vehicle was later found unoccupied on County Route 60 at the intersection of County Route 86 in Brighton, Franklin County. Bechand is believed to have fled in an unknown direction and was wearing an unknown outfit at the time of his departure.

Bechand is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair.

A multi-agency search for Bechand is currently underway in the area where his vehicle was located.

Anyone who has seen Bechand or has information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the New York State Police at 518-897-2000. Please do not approach him, as he may be armed and dangerous.

An autopsy is being conducted today, September 15, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., at Ellis Hospital, by Forensic Pathologist Dr. Bernard Ng, to determine the cause and manner of death.

This is an ongoing investigation.

The New York State Forest Rangers and U.S. Customs and Border Protection are assisting the New York State Police and the Cohoes Police Department.
