Potsdam women charged after an domestic dispute investigation

Press Release

On May 4, 2026, the New York State Police arrested Kara L. Koen, age 38, of Potsdam, charging her with Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree, and Criminal Mischief.

On May 4, 2026, at approximately 2:34 p.m., troopers responded to Capell Road in the town of Parishville for a report of a physical domestic dispute. An investigation determined that Koen and the victim were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation, during which Koen struck the victim, breaking the victim’s glasses.

Both parties then exited the residence. While outside, Koen entered a 2004 Volvo, while the victim was positioned between the vehicle and a garage. Koen subsequently accelerated the vehicle in reverse, striking the victim and causing them to fall to the ground.

Koen then stopped the vehicle, and the parties were separated while awaiting emergency medical services and law enforcement.

The victim was evaluated on scene by Parishville Rescue and transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Koen was arrested and transported to SP Canton for processing. She was later arraigned in the Town of Parishville Court and released on her own recognizance.
