On September 18, 2024, the New York State Police began investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash on State Route 44 west of Traver Road in the town of Pleasant Valley at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Initial investigation determined a 2023 Mercedes-Benz van was eastbound on State Route 44 when an electric scooter operated by Brandon Vogel, age 32, of Pleasant Valley, entered the roadway from the south shoulder and was struck.
Vogel was transported to Vassar Hospital by the Pleasant Valley Fire Department where he was later pronounced deceased.
This investigation remains ongoing.
