On September 8, 2025, members of the New York State Police arrested Dakota Ostroski, age 25, from Moira, NY, for driving while intoxicated.
On June 30, 2025, at approximately 10:29 p.m., Troopers responded to a one-car injury accident on Hoyt Road in the town of Bombay. An investigation revealed that a black 2012 Subaru, operated by Ostroski, was traveling northbound when he lost control of the vehicle, exited the roadway, and sideswiped a tree. The passengers in the car were identified as Chance Boudrieau, 30, also from Moira, NY; Corey J. Kellison, age 40, of Massena, NY; and Brook Oakes, 27, from Winthrop, NY. Three occupants sustained injuries in the incident. Boudrieau suffered life-threatening injuries, while Ostroski and Oakes had non-life-threatening injuries.
During the interview, Ostroski exhibited signs of impairment. Troopers attempted to administer Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), but he was unable to perform them due to his injuries.
Ostroski was transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center, where he submitted to a chemical blood test and received treatment for his injuries.
Due to the severity of the arm injury, Boudrieau was taken to Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital and later transferred to UVM Medical Center for further medical treatment, which resulted in the amputation of his right arm.
On September 2, 2025, Troopers received the blood test results, indicating Ostroski's blood alcohol content at the time of the accident was .15% BAC.
Ostroski was processed for driving while intoxicated and issued vehicle and traffic tickets, which are returnable to the Town of Bombay Court for a later date in October.
