On Sunday, October 5, 2025, at approximately 5:40 p.m., troopers from the New York State Police Haverstraw barracks responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a train in the area of Tompkins Cove, in the town of Stony Point.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 21-year-old male was on the railroad tracks prior to the passing of a CSX freight train and was subsequently struck. The train came to a stop, and emergency services were immediately contacted to render aid.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, where he is currently listed in stable condition.
The investigation remains ongoing.
