Oneida Man Arrested for Assault in the village of Morrisville

On October 26, at about 11:40 p.m., State Police responded to a report of an altercation outside of The Fort bar, located at 97 Main St in the village of Morrisville.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect, Nicholas B. West, age 38, from Oneida, NY, was reported to being belligerent inside a bar.

Two victims, a 47-year-old male, and a 17-year-old male, walked West outside from inside of the bar. West started to act aggressive and went after the 17-year-old to fight. A physical altercation ensued, and both parties stood up. All parties stood facing each other, and West lunged toward both victims with the knife in his hand.

The 47-year-old was struck in the right forearm creating a deep laceration a few inches long and a small laceration on his left forearm.

The 17-year-old was not cut with the knife but was menaced as West lunged toward him. The suspect was quickly located by SUNY Morrisville PD and the weapon was located. West was transported to Hamilton Hospital, and both victims were transported to Upstate University with non-life-threatening injuries.

West was transported to SP Oneida and arrested for one count of Assault 1st degree (class “B” felony), two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (class “D” felony) , and Menacing 2nd (class “A” misdemeanor).

West was arraigned and transported to Madison County Jail. He is currently being held in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
