On January 22, 2026, at approximately 8:15 a.m., New York State Police at Homer responded to State Route 41 in the town of Homer for a report of a one vehicle crash.
An investigation revealed that a Ryder Truck rental van was traveling at an unsafe speed when the operator traveled off the roadway and struck a telephone pole. The operator, 22-year-old Kavion N. Rufus, of Syracuse was injured and transported by TLC ambulance to SUNY Upstate University Hospital.
