The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Binghamton is looking to identify two people that are linked to several “smash and grabs” in Broome County. These two people are also suspects in cases being investigated by other law enforcement agencies in the area.
These suspects have smashed windows and taken valuable items from vehicles in broad daylight at Otsiningo Park, Veterans River Park and IBM Glen Trail.
In one case, a vehicle window was smashed, and a checkbook was stolen from the vehicle at Veterans River Park in Kirkwood. The suspect used the stolen check and with a stolen ID from a vehicle at Otsiningo Park in a case that’s being investigated by the Broome County Sheriff’s Department.
In another case, a vehicle window was smashed and a wallet containing cash was stolen while the victims were at a softball game. A third victim reported that their wallet containing a debit card was stolen and then used at two different stores.
The suspects were spotted in a white BMW X4 but the license plate on that vehicle was found to be stolen from the state of Connecticut.

New York State Police is also issuing a warning to residents, please do not leave valuables in an unlocked vehicle. Do not leave valuables in plain view or in your vehicle unattended, even if your vehicle is locked. If you see anything suspicious, don’t hesitate to call 9-1-1, don’t approach the person but get as many descriptive features about the person or the vehicle they’re in.
