On September 17, 2024, the New York State Police in Wappinger responded to the Newburgh Beacon Bridge for a report of a jumper from the New York State Bridge Authority at approximately 6:50 a.m.
Investigation determined a passerby observed the victim later identified as, Ryan Franolich, age 34, of Clinton, NY, jumping from the bridge and reported it to the Bridge Authority. He was later found deceased with the assistance of the New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team and Aviation.
This investigation remains ongoing.
