Press Release

DASH

New York State Police arrested a parolee following a reckless driving incident and brief police pursuit during the District Attorney’s Safer Highway (DASH) initiative.

On February 3, 2026, at approximately 4:16 p.m., members of the Troop K Community Stabilization Unit, while assigned to the DASH initiative, attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a 2025 Chevrolet near mile marker 7.6 northbound on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the town of Greenburgh for multiple New York State vehicle and traffic Law violations. The driver failed to comply, leading to a short pursuit.

The driver, identified as Jose A. Martinez, 34, of Bristol, Connecticut, and the front-seat passenger attempted to flee on foot but were taken into custody shortly afterward with the assistance of the Town of Greenburgh Police Department.

Martinez was charged with the following offenses:

  • Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd, a class A misdemeanor
  • Reckless Driving, an unclassified misdemeanor
  • Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations

Martinez was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Greenburgh Town Court on February 24, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.

Highway safety and the preservation of public order are core values of the New York State Police, and this initiative reflects our shared responsibility to protect law-abiding motorists while addressing the very real dangers that aggressive and reckless driving creates for both the public and the Troopers who patrol these corridors every day.
