New York State Police and the New York State Park Police responded to Lake Sebago for a report of a possible drowning.

On August 18, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., New York State Police and the New York State Park Police responded to Lake Sebago for a report of a possible drowning.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Carlos G. Gomez Tay, age 31, from Palisades Park, New Jersey, was with his family at the Lake and went swimming. Gomez Tay swam out about 100 ft away from his family and then started calling for help. Gomez Tay subsequently submerged and did not resurface. His family attempted to help but were unsuccessful before calling 911. Gomez Tay was subsequently located by the Theills Fire Department and Stony Point Dive team, who removed his body the water. Gomez Tay and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
