Man crashes on 81, leads to DWI and felony charge

On October 15, 2024, at approximately 12:24 p.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Michael D. Seamon, age 44 of Tully, NY for the class “C” felony of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, the class “E” felony of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree and the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.

A Trooper was dispatched to Interstate 81 north in the town of Homer for a report of a one-vehicle crash.  An investigation revealed that Seamon failed to navigate a curve on the roadway and struck a guiderail. 

While interviewing Seamon, the Trooper smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Seamon’s breath and other characteristics associated with impairment.  Seamon was arrested.  Troopers also located a loaded handgun in the vehicle and that Seamon’s driver’s license is revoked. 

Seamon was processed at SP Homer and then turned over to the Cortland County Correctional Facility for Centralized Arraignment.
