On January 19, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Troopers responded to Maplefields, located on East Main Street in the village of Malone to assist Malone Village Police Department with a stolen vehicle complaint. An investigation determined a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox was stolen from Maplefields, leading State Police members and Clinton County Sheriff’s Department on a high-speed pursuit, resulting in multiple wrecked vehicle in the city of Plattsburgh. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Kyle M. Shearer, age 27 of Malone, NY was turned over to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department. Shearer was arrested, arraigned and release on his own recognizances.
On January 21, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Troopers were looking for a red, white, and blue 1999 Ford F250 that was reported stolen from Tractor Supply, located on State Route 11, in the town of Malone. Troopers located the vehicle, attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the operator of the vehicle failed to comply, leading the State Police members on a high-speed pursuit. The vehicle continued through the village of Malone. During the pursuit the operator of the truck struck a light pole, fire hydrant, and the pursuit came to an end when the operator wrecked in the village of Malone when colliding with a memorial on the corner of Elm Street and State Route 11. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Kyle M. Shearer, age 27 of Malone, NY.
Shearer was arrested and transported to SP Malone for processing. He was charged with grand larceny 3rd, grand larceny 4th, reckless endangerment 1st, criminal mischief 4th, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle 3rd, and driving while intoxicated. He was arraigned in the Town of Malone Court where he was remanded to Franklin County
