On June 8, 2025, members of the State Police responded to a larceny complaint at Walmart, located on State Route 11 in the town of Malone. The investigation revealed that a female had entered the store and stolen merchandise valued at $71.30, bypassing all points of purchase without paying. Further investigation showed that the same individual had previously committed larceny at the same Walmart on April 20, 2025, where she stole merchandise valued at $525.53, also leaving without paying.
Walmart employees provided a description of the female and the license plate number of the vehicle she used to leave with the stolen merchandise. The Trooper initiated a traffic stop and located the female inside the vehicle, matching the description given by the employees. She was identified as Catherine M. Tambini, a 59-year-old resident of Malone, NY. Tambini was arrested and transported to SP Malone for processing.
The ongoing investigation revealed that Tambini had prior arrests for trespassing and was under restrictions that prohibited her from entering any Walmart stores.
As a result, Tambini was charged with burglary in the third degree and was arraigned in the Town of Malone Court. She was subsequently remanded to Franklin County Jail.
