

On July 9, 2024, the New York State Police (NYSP) and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) arrested Corey Hinz, age 35, of Stuyvesant, NY, following an extended pursuit in the town of Kinderhook.
At approximately 8:00 a.m., a Columbia County Deputy began pursuing Corey Hinz, a known burglary suspect, traveling on an off-road vehicle in the town of Kinderhook. NYSP units including aviation joined CCSO and searched for Hinz for over six hours. He was eventually located by NYSP Aviation and taken into custody by NYSP and CCSO ATV units.
Hinz was arrested in connection with several area break-ins on the following charges: Burglary in the 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon: Loaded Firearm, in the 2nd degree, both class C felonies, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st degree, Criminal Mischief in the 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd degree, all class D felonies, 2 counts of Grand Larceny in the 4th degree, 2 counts Criminal Mischief in the 3rd degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st degree, all class E felonies, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, all class A misdemeanors, and Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office additionally charged Hinz with Burglary in the 3rd degree, a class D felony, and Petit Larceny, a class A misdemeanor. Further charges are pending.
Hinz was arraigned before the town of Kinderhook Court and remanded to the Columba County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. He is next scheduled to appear before the court on July 16, 2024.
