Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon and New York State Police Troop G announced today that a 55-year-old man has been formally charged for preying on children for his own sexual gratification.
James Yerdon, of Adams Center, was arraigned on a sealed, four-count indictment in front of the Honorable Roger McDonough Monday charging him with one count of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and one count of Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree.
The indictment alleges that Yerdon raped a male victim less than 11 years old on several dates between March 2023 and May 2025 at multiple locations in Albany County and other areas of the state. The indictment also alleges that Yerdon sexually abused a male victim who is less than 14 years old in the town of Colonie in late January 2025.
Yerdon’s case stems from a New York State Police investigation, that found in some cases, Yerdon was traveling from Central New York and bringing victims to the area and elsewhere to sexually abuse them.
State Police believe there could be more victims from across the state and they’re urging the public to contact their local NYSP barracks if Yerdon came into contact with them.
Yerdon pleaded not guilty Monday and was remanded to the custody of the Cayuga Correctional Facility, where he is being held on federal child pornography charges.
