Former Employee Arrested for Vandalism and Burglary at Omega Institute

On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at approximately 11:53 a.m., Troopers from the State Police Rhinebeck barracks responded to a report of criminal mischief at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, located at 140 Lake Drive in the Town of Clinton.

Upon arrival, Troopers discovered approximately thirty vehicles on the premises with at least one tire slashed on each. Further investigation also uncovered evidence of a burglary at the facility’s kitchen.

Through investigative efforts by both Troopers and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, it was determined that Michael V. Fitzpatrick, 27, of Pine Plains, NY, a former employee recently terminated from his kitchen duties at the institute, was responsible for the damage.

Fitzpatrick was arrested on June 18, 2025, and charged with the following offenses:

•    Burglary in the 3rd Degree (D Felony): Illegal entry with intent to commit a crime

•    Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree – 31 counts (E Felony): Damaging another person's property with a value exceeding $250

Fitzpatrick was arraigned in the Town of Clinton Court and released under the supervision of probation. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 7, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
