Fentanyl Seized by Troop K’s Community Stabilization Unit

On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., members of the New York State Police Troop K Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Camry traveling northbound on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of East Fishkill for multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Carmelo Arroyo Miranda, 36, of the Bronx, NY.

A State Police narcotics detection K-9, Vinn, was deployed to conduct an exterior scan of the vehicle. K-9 Vinn positively alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle.

A subsequent probable cause search resulted in the discovery of a rectangular, compressed package containing approximately 1,095.8 grams of fentanyl. Additionally, a pill bottle containing numerous glassine envelopes filled with a gray powdery substance consistent with narcotics was recovered.

Miranda was arraigned in the Town of East Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail.
