On April 30, 2024, the New York State Police initiated a traffic stop on a 2019 Nissan Altima at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Route 100 in the town of Somers for failure to maintain lane. The operator failed to comply and was pursued for a short distance before the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree.
The operator, Mark P. Frey, age 66, of Brewster, NY, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This investigation remains ongoing.
