Facebook Marketplace is great, but not for trading guns

On September 5, 2024, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Lockport arrested Michael J. Lee, 32 of Burt, NY for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3^rd degree -Assault Weapon- 4 counts, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3^rd degree – high-capacity magazine and Possession of a loaded firearm.

On September 5, 2024, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation executed a search warrant at a residence in the town of Burt, NY. Investigation determined that Lee was attempting to trade guns for a vehicle on Facebook Marketplace. Lee was arrested and the BCI seized four assault weapons and eight high-capacity magazines. Lee was transported to SP Lockport for processing and taken to Niagara County Jail for CAP arraignment.

The NYSP Community Stabilization Unit and Special Investigations Unit were involved in this case.
