Ellenburg Depot man arrested stemming a domestic dispute

On November 29, 2025, New York State Police arrested Joshua B. Dapo, age 43, of Ellenburg Depot, NY, for the following charges:
   •    Criminal Mischief
   •    Assault 3rd
   •    Menacing 2nd
   •    Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd
   •    Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd

At approximately 11:23 a.m. on the same date, New York State Police members interviewed a victim of domestic violence. The investigation determined that a verbal altercation had occurred on Canaan Road in the town of Moores. During the incident, Dapo and the victim became involved in a physical altercation. Dapo struck the victim, restrained them, damaged property within the residence, and brandished a firearm while making threatening remarks.

The victim was eventually able to calm Dapo, who then put the firearm away. A second altercation later occurred while both were inside a vehicle. The victim was able to exit the vehicle and seek safety inside a nearby store.

Dapo left the area but was later located, arrested, and transported to SP Champlain for processing. He was arraigned in the Town of Ellenburg Court and released on his own recognizance.
