

On January 26, 2024, members of the New York State Police Troop E Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET), Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Crisis Negotiating Unit (CNU), Community Stabilization Unit (CSU), Special Operations Response Team (SORT), the Elmira Police Department and the Steuben County District Attorney’s Office executed a search warrant at 9559 County Route 46 in the town of Dansville, NY, without incident.
The following evidence was secured:
Approximately 15 grams of methamphetamine
U.S. currency in excess of $5000.00
Kimber Stainless Raptor .45 caliber pistol with a magazine
Numerous .45 caliber rounds
Savage Axis .30-06 rifle
Savage Model 110 .22 caliber rifle
Ruger American .308 caliber rifle
Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun
Winchester Model 120 20 gauge shotgun
Mossburg 7.62 caliber rifle
Digital scales
Approx. 6 lbs of cannabis
Metal knuckles & switchblade
As a result of the evidence secured, the following arrests were made:
Matthew T. Henry, age 37, of Dansville, NY
Maria L. Smith, age 30, of Dansville, NY
Both subjects were taken to SP North Hornell for processing. They were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd (B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (D Felony), Criminal Possession of Cannabis 2nd (E Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th (A Misdemeanor), Failure to Safely Store Firearms 1st (A Misdemeanor), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A Misdemeanor), Henry and Smith were taken to Steuben County Jail for CAP arraignment.
The search warrant and arrests stemmed from a several-month investigation conducted by the New York State Police, Elmira Police Department, and the Hornell Police Department.
