Connecticut Man Arrested in the Bronx with Illegal Handgun in Stolen Car

Bronx, NY - On September 3rd, 2025, Troopers from Troop NYC, SP Bronx, arrested Gadiel Akil Jumaane Barnett (25), of Connecticut, for the following charges: Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree, a class D Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a class D Felony, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E Felony, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a class A Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of an Ammunition Feeding Device, a B Misdemeanor. 

A Trooper was patrolling southbound on Interstate 295 in the Bronx when he conducted a traffic stop of a white Honda Accord.  Subsequent to a roadside investigation, it was discovered the vehicle was stolen and the plates affixed to the vehicle were not registered to it.

The suspect, Gadiel Akil Jumaane Barnett, was placed into custody and was found to possess a handgun.

Barnett was transported to the Bronx 45th Precinct for processing.  He was then lodged in Bronx Central Bookings to be arraigned at a later date.
