On July 30, 2025, members of the New York State Police arrested 22-year-old Wyatt J. Sochia from Canton, NY, on charges of unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, third-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on the same day, troopers responded to an assault complaint on Pestle Street in the town of Russell. The investigation revealed that Sochia and the victim had engaged in a verbal argument, which escalated into physical violence when Sochia forcefully grabbed the victim and pulled them back into the residence, causing the victim to fall to the ground. Additionally, Sochia prevented the victim from leaving and from contacting law enforcement for assistance.
Sochia was arrested and taken to the State Police barracks in Canton for processing. He was subsequently arraigned in the Town of Canton Court and released.
