On July 28, 2024, the New York State Police in Dover Plains arrested Isaiah A. Garcia, age 26, of New York, NY, for three counts of Burglary in the 3rd degree, a class D felony, Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree, Possession of Burglar Tools, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th degree, all class A misdemeanors.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to Old Route 22 in the town of Amenia for a report of a suspicious person with an axe by Dutchess County 911. Additional callers to Dutchess County 911 provided updated location information which led to the detainment of the suspect later identified as Isaiah Garcia. Investigation determined Garcia was using the axe, a bat, and other tools to forcibly enter buildings in the area. Garcia was also found to be in possession of stolen items including an antique pocket watch and was subsequently arrested.
Garcia was arraigned before the town of Amenia Court and released on his own recognizance to reappear at a future date.
