On October 29, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., troopers from the Ellenville barracks responded to a one-vehicle ATV collision that occurred on Berme Road in the Town of Wawarsing.
The investigation revealed that a 2025 Can-Am ATV was traveling south on Berme Road in Ellenville when the operator, identified as Jose Aldarondo, age 33, of Ellenville, NY, lost control of the ATV and struck the guiderail. During the course of the investigation, troopers determined that the ATV had been reported stolen by its owner.
Aldarondo was taken into custody and refused medical attention for his injuries. He was transported to State Police Ellenville for processing and charged with the following:
• Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Class D Felony
• Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Class D Felony
• Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, Unclassified Misdemeanor
• Attempted Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident 1st Offense, Class A Misdemeanor
• Multiple New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations
Aldarondo was arraigned on October 30, 2025, in the Town of New Paltz Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of New Paltz Court at a later date.
