On July 20, 2025, at approximately 4:04 p.m., troopers from the New York State Police in Greenville observed a 2005 GMC Yukon traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 in the town of Wawayanda in violation of multiple New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law offenses.
Troopers initiated a traffic stop; however, the vehicle failed to comply, resulting in a brief pursuit. The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Schutt Road in the town of Wallkill. The operator, identified as Robert M. Flynn, age 57, of Montgomery, NY, was taken into custody without incident.
During the course of the investigation, troopers recovered an object that had been thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit. The object was determined to contain approximately .8 grams of cocaine.
Flynn was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree, Class D Felony
• Tampering with Physical Evidence, Class E Felony
• Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, Class A Misdemeanor
• Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, Class A Misdemeanor
• Multiple New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law violations
Flynn was processed at State Police barracks and released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Wawayanda Court on August 14, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
