The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Catskill announces the arrest of Kristopher E. Clearwater-Ross, age 41, of Catskill, NY, following an investigation into the possession and promotion of child sexual abuse material.
Clearwater-Ross has been charged with the following offenses:
• Two counts of Promote an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child Less Than 17 Years of Age, a Class D felony
• Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child Less Than 16 Years Old, Possess Access, a Class E felony
• Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child Less Than 16 Years Old, Possess Access to View, a Class E felony
The investigation began in July 2024 after the New York State Police received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at Clearwater-Ross’s residence in Catskill on October 1, 2025.
This arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the New York State Police Troop F Computer Crimes Unit, the Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Catskill, and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
Clearwater-Ross was arraigned in Athens Town Court and remanded to Greene County Jail, with bail set at $100,000 cash, $200,000 bond, or $300,000 partially secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on October 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
