On October 16, 2024, troopers from SP Horseheads responded to a domestic dispute on Rotary Road in the town of Chemung.
An investigation revealed that a 17-year-old male was damaging property inside the residence. While troopers were issuing an appearance ticket to the 17-year-old, he became aggressive and struck the trooper in the head, injuring the trooper.
The 17-year-old was taken into custody and transported to SP Horseheads for processing. He was charged with Assault 2nd: with intent to cause injury to an Officer (D Felony), Resisting Arrest (A Misdemeanor), and Criminal Mischief 4th (A Misdemeanor). He was issued an appearance ticket to Chemung County Youth Part Court, returnable on October 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., and was released to his father.
