Keith M. Corlett became the 16th Superintendent of the New York State Police on June 4, 2019. As Superintendent, he commands more than 5,000 troopers, investigators and civilian support staff who provide a full range of policing and public safety services to New Yorkers and other law enforcement agencies across the state.

Since 2016, Superintendent Corlett served in the State Police as a Deputy Superintendent -Administration where he directed the agency’s Budget and Financial Sections and managed the State Police Crime Laboratory System and Central Records. In this senior role, Superintendent Corlett also oversaw sections including communications, fleet and facilities.

Previously, Superintendent Corlett worked as Assistant Deputy Superintendent assigned to the Superintendent’s Office, and acting Staff Inspector - Field Command for the New York State Police. As Staff Inspector in 2014 and 2015, he supervised the statewide operations and deployment of approximately 3,500 sworn uniformed members. He was also responsible for supervising members assigned to various statewide specialty units including canine, underwater recovery and bomb disposal units.

Throughout his career, Superintendent Corlett has served in a number of roles for the New York State Police, including as Troop Commander of Troop NYC. Prior to that, Superintendent Corlett was a captain in Troops F and K, overseeing sworn members and providing police services to a diverse group of communities from Westchester to Columbia counties. Superintendent Corlett was also a sergeant, investigator and later lieutenant, with Troops F, Division Headquarters, NYC and T, from 1990-2006.

Superintendent Corlett graduated from the New York State Police Academy in 1985. Superintendent Corlett is a graduate of SUNY Stony Brook, and holds a master’s degree in public administration from Marist College.
