Trooper James. J. Monda


On August 22, 2021, Sergeant James J. Monda died during his assignment to a marine patrol on the Great Sacandaga Lake.

While at the Hudson River-Black River Regulating District Dock, Sergeant Monda went into the water and did not resurface. A fellow State Police member assigned to the marine patrol entered the water and located Sergeant Monda. He was transported to Nathan Littauer Hospital where he died. His cause of death was determined to be accidental due to drowning.

Sergeant Monda, 45, joined the State Police in September 2002 and served with the State Police for 18 years. Sergeant Monda served most of his career in Troop G, his last assignment was SP Princetown.
