What is FIC School?

FIC School is a unique opportunity for local students to meet and learn from forensic scientists and other professionals from the New York State Police Crime Laboratory System. FIC School is based out of the Forensic Investigation Center in Albany, which is the main laboratory for the system. It meets several times per semester (see schedule below), with sessions exploring different disciplines of forensic science.

After each lecture session, students will have the opportunity to meet with forensic scientist mentors to answer any questions and for a more personal and in- depth look into the mentors’ own experiences. Students can apply this knowledge to their own academic and professional paths while also networking with students and faculty from other academic institutions.

Upcoming Events

The Spring 2025 Lecture Series is complete. Thank you to all who were able to participate, it has been a tremendous success! We welcome you to our next series, details to come.

Students that attended at least one session (and were recorded as present) will be invited to the lab tour. Since space is limited, sign-ups were on a first come, first served basis. Notifications will be sent via email once selections have been made.
