BENEDICTO ALBIZU, JR.
Staff Sergeant Benedicto Albizu, Jr., became a Member of the New York State Police on September 30, 1985.  He entered into a Service retirement from the New York State Police after 33 years of service on December 28, 2018. 

On May 9, 2024, Staff Sergeant Albizu died as a result of pancreatic cancer stemming from his assignment to the World Trade Center site, following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. 

In response to the attacks of 9/11, Staff Sergeant Albizu was assigned to aid with the search and recovery efforts in New York City, as part of the New York State Police Detail.

Staff Sergeant Albizu is survived by his wife and three daughters.
