Automated Vehicle Location - AVL

AVL Screen

2009: State Police deploy the Automated Vehicle Location ( AVL) system, which is an advanced method of using remote vehicle tracking and monitoring via GPS, to provide a mapped display of the location of marked patrols. The same display is viewable at division workstations, dispatch centers and inside patrol cars. The system allows for members to view where other patrols are, increasing officer safety and allowing Communications Specialists to view the closest patrol to an incident prior to dispatching a call.
