Duties & Responsibilities:Produce daily, monthly and ad-hoc reports focused on current criminal and terrorist threats to New York State, drawing on the latest security threats described in the open source and in reporting from official channels.

Monitor open source accounts of international and domestic incidents, arrests and legislation as they relate to homeland security issues, and ensure that the Intelligence & Analysis Unit (IAU) and New York State Intelligence Center (NYSIC) leadership are kept aware of such developments.

Augment federal-level finished intelligence products by providing further analytical judgments or historical background with relevance to New York, when applicable.

Assist NYSIC staff - both criminal and counter terrorism units and sub-units - in the collection and analysis of seemingly disparate pieces of information and intelligence in order to ensure that developments in homeland security are accounted for in NYSIC's focused intelligence production.

Provide oral briefings on current threat environment and other topics as requested by NYSIC customers and partners.

Attend meetings/conferences/trainings/seminars to further develop an understanding of crime/ terrorism as well as strengthen analytical skills.

Support response to major incidents & events with the Mobile Intelligence Team (MIT), while also gaining an understanding of threats and vulnerabilities across New York State.
Minimum and/or Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and four years of intelligence analysis experience;


Associate's degree and six years of relevant experience;


Eight years of relevant experience in intelligence analysis for a governmental entity;


Be able to attain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.

Additionally, the following qualifications will be considered during the resume review and interview processes:

Professional and Analytical Considerations

Understanding of terrorist organizations, violent extremist ideology, narcotics trafficking, outlaw motorcycle gang activity, financial crimes, smuggling organizations, human trafficking, internet fraud, scams, identity theft, transnational organized crime and other homeland security issues.

Ability to work with law enforcement and homeland security professionals at all levels of government.

Possess excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to clearly articulate concepts and findings to a varied audience to facilitate wide understanding.

**Preference will be given to candidates that have received formal training in intelligence analysis, analytic tradecraft, and/or critical thinking and writing. Examples include: Foundations of Intelligence Analysis, Basic Intelligence and Threat Analysis, Critical Thinking and Analysis Methods, Intermediate Tradecraft and Analysis, Analytical Writing for Fusion Center Analysts, and any other federal government or professional association training or certifications.

Occasional travel within New York State and possibly nationwide is required. Evenings, weekend, and/or holiday work can be anticipated based on the current threat level.
Additional Comments:Starting Salary: $81,446.00.
