Duties & Responsibilities:The Commercial Casino Unit Program Research Specialist 2 provides support to Investigators and/or Senior Auditors in the collection, analysis, and evaluation of information relevant to a background investigation being conducted on a person and/or a business associated with the Commercial Casinos in New York State. The Program Research Specialist 2 position is also responsible for the collection, analyzing, and storing of intelligence data as it relates to the Commercial Casino Unit operation.


Perform research and analytical functions in support of Commercial Casino background investigations being prepared by Investigators and/or Senior Auditors.

Interact with counterparts in law enforcement organizations and intelligence units for the purpose of gathering and sharing information related to casino activities as well as applicant background investigations.

Access data sources, as in Accurint and Dunn & Bradstreet, extract and validate relevant data and assemble that information into written communication for background reports on casino applicants and casino venders.

Assemble, collate, analyze and interpret incoming reports received from other gaming and investigative agencies.

Compose descriptive analytical intelligence reports through analytical techniques and methods to identify links, trends and patterns in intelligence, operational and investigative activities related to gaming activity.

Monitor internal and external gaming associated database systems and recommend additions and/or modifications.

Establish and maintain contacts with counterparts in other law enforcement, gaming and intelligence units for securing, validating and disseminating information.

Assesses the statistical methods and procedures used to obtain data to ensure validity, applicability, efficiency, and accuracy.

Identifies relationships, trends in data, and any factors that could affect the results of the gaming background investigation.

Prepares tables, graphs, fact sheets, and written reports summarizing research results using Microsoft Word/Excel and Access.
Minimum and/or Preferred Qualifications:A Bachelor's Degree or higher from a recognized college or university with nine (9) semester credit hours in statistics, economics, econometrics, research methods, data analysis, or data modeling.


Two (2) years of subsequent professional research experience in the collection and evaluation of quantitative data directed toward review and analysis of program operations.
Additional Comments:Starting Salary: $56,604.00.
