- On February 5, 1997 at about 6:00 p.m. on the eastbound side of I-84, about 1/5 of a mile west of exit 12
(about 4 miles east of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge eastbound toll barrier) in Dutchess County, NY. Aderson apparently was
involved in an accident with the suspect's vehicle, from which an argument ensued and Aderson was shot in the chest.
- After the shooting, the suspect left the scene and headed eastbound on Interstate 84.
