Enforcement Statistics
In 2005, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) Unit members:
- Weighed 112,901 vehicles,
- Conducted 57,601 commercial vehicle safety inspections,
- Discovered 21,868 out-of-service violations for serious safety defects and
- 3,800 Hazardous Materials Inspections were performed
The CVE Unit works closely with the Motor Vehicle Inspectors of the New York State Department of Transportation, Passenger and Freight Safety Division, conducting safety inspections at daily road checks.
Also, unit members cooperate with other law enforcement agencies, often assisting in enforcement and accident investigations involving commercial motor vehicles.
